Introduction of Bearing Steel Characteristics
Bearing steel is the most commonly used material in bearing industry. The characteristics of bearing steel are as follows:
I. Contact fatigue strength
Under the action of periodic load, the bearing is easy to suffer from fatigue damage, that is, cracking and peeling, which is an important destructive situation of the bearing. Therefore, in order to improve the service life of bearings, bearing steel must have high contact fatigue strength.
2. Wear resistance
During the bearing task, not only rolling friction but also sliding friction occurs between the ring, the rolling element and the maintainer, which makes the bearing parts wear all the time. In order to increase the wear of bearing parts, maintain the accuracy and stability of bearings, and extend the service life, bearing steel should have good wear resistance.
3. Hardness
Hardness is one of the important qualities of bearing quality, which has indirect influence on contact fatigue strength, wear resistance and elastic limit. The hardness of bearing steel should reach HRC61 ~ 65 in operation condition, which can make the bearing obtain higher contact fatigue strength and wear resistance.
4.Antirust Performance
In order to avoid corrosion and rusting of bearing parts and finished products in the process of processing, sending and operation, it is requested that bearing steel should have good anti-rust performance.
5.Processing Performance
In the course of consumption, bearing parts have to go through many cold and hot working procedures. In order to satisfy the requirements of small quantity, high efficiency and high quality, bearing steel should have good processing performance. For example, cold and hot forming properties, cutting performance, hardenability and so on.
In addition to the above basic requirements, bearing steels shall also meet the requirements of proper chemical composition, average external structure, less non-metallic adulterants, conformity to the specification for external defects and no excess of regular concentration of external decarbonization layer.
